Gather Essential Information
A positive pregnancy test can raise many questions, and it doesn’t tell you everything you need to know. At Bright Hope, our free, early ultrasounds help you gain the insight you need while ensuring your questions are answered.
What Our Ultrasound Provides
Ultrasound uses sound waves to produce images of your reproductive organs and pregnancy.
A transvaginal ultrasound produces clear images during the early stages of pregnancy. This type of scan involves gently inserting a wand-like device called a transducer into the vagina.
After those initial weeks, ultrasounds are performed using a handheld transducer placed on your abdomen.
An early ultrasound can:
- Confirm the pregnancy is in the uterus (not ectopic)
- Determine gestational age (how far along the pregnancy is)
- Check for signs of viability, like whether a heartbeat is present and if the pregnancy is progressing
These details are crucial. They help you plan your next steps and determine your options.
Medical abortion, for example, is FDA-approved only through 10 weeks of gestation. And if you’re experiencing a miscarriage or ectopic pregnancy, the latter of which can cause life-threatening complications, an ultrasound can detect these conditions, allowing you to receive needed medical monitoring and treatment.
